In STRATA Barbara Herold and Florian Huth present recent works from their project series “Real World Assets.” Visitors are guided into a designated experimental field where the remnants of a post-natural world become visible. Fossils, traditionally perceived as rigid and immovable witnesses of bygone eras, are given a fluid form. They transform into digital-morphological entities that blur the boundaries between natural and artificial.

Herold & Huth utilize 3D-scanned landscape fragments, which inscribe themselves onto surfaces as imprints of the contemporary natural world. These fossils of a “Second Nature” are composed of layers—textures, elevation profiles, light-shadow modeling—showcasing the landscape as a hybrid. This hybrid is formed by overlapping and interwoven image information, transformed into sculptural territories as reality shifts into the digital realm.
